Hey, has anyone tried a 120/70 front instead of the standard 110/80? (On the 18" front obv.)

Does it make a difference, or should I just head for a 17" front to get decent road tyres?

Hi Max

Yes - your correct... different widths.... that surprises me.... I guess it should not have as the 1100 is also twin disc..

The 120 will not clear the front fender.
I'm also surprised that it will foul the front mudguard. The standard MT60's are very big tyres, guessing due to the tread... putting on any normal road tyre results in all the scramblers having massive clearance between the tyre and the mudguard. I'm evaluating how to lower mine, to get it closer to the tyre again.

You make some mounting brackets that bolt up on the forks using CSK screws and have a set of tapped holes - 10mm (approx) lower than the original ones that you bolt into.

That's what I did on my 800.

Probably have a set here

The standard screws go where the CSK screws are and the CSK screws fix them to the forks..,, in the CSK holes..

Should give you the idea...

The difference in centres is actually 20mm

Overall length about 105mm

Width about 20mm

Thickness around 3mm
