Gonna run the evotech plate to help cover the head so its not getting battered and as muddy but after my last trip had to pressure wash a TON of mud and whatnot off the rear shock resevoir, swing arm, crankcase that was thrown there by the rear tire.

Ive seen a few huggers out there but thinking there might be an issue with a different swingarm design since ours is beefed up. Wondering if anyone has had experience with one that both fits the sled and would survive the battering of off road.

Nearly finished my off road mods to my DS so I thought I would share them as it has been a learning curve. I had to fabricate a lot of items which wasn't that hard with fiberglass and as you can see the low seat is a one off by me as I am vertically challenged (short). I solved the problem with mud by new new side an underneath panels which keeps it off the shock and therefore stops it blowing seals. It won't be for everyone but it is now the bike for me and terrain I like.

Looks like you switched to 21 inches in the front and kept the 17 in the rear. How are you faring?

Any drawbacks on the tarmac? What did you do to the suspension? I quite like it it the way it is, if it were not for the shock breaking after a few thousand miles on bad and sometimes gravel roads. All the oil gone. No damping whatsoever …

I just found those on google too. I might give it a shot as well at least when I am off road (sounds like its just velcro and some zip ties. Then maybe I can fab up a cover for the resevior, although ideally a hugger would be best because it just keeps all of that off the back of the swingarm and engine, I hosed a ton of mud off of it last time out.

Guess at least its not high velocity, I feel a little better with the new "bash plate" where at least the stuff coming off the front wheel isn't sandblasting the front head.

FYI dont trust the "9" model they say is the right one from the R&G website, not even close. Its 10" around and 8.5" long but in reality you need 11" around and at least 9.5" long. The 10" around doesnt give you the velcro overlap.

Also its going to rub against the plastic frame that is behind the shock. Its a shame they just didnt extend that down and somewhat around the shock.

Hi

Did you fabricate this bash plate yourself or is it off the shelf?
