I thought I would post this here just in case any other members experience a similar problem with their brand new bikes.
I collected my bike with only 5 miles on the clock, and only managed a further 15 miles before spluttering to a halt.
The symptoms that lead up to my breaking down were :-
1. Engine light with Battery warning illuminating on the clocks.
2. Followed by ABS warning a couple of hundred yards later.
3. Then the fuel light coming on a further few hundred yards.
4. Loss of speed display. The clocks initially showed 0mph, then changed to a series of 4 dashes. - - - - right after.
The bike ran fine during the above points, but very shortly after started to run as though there was no fuel in the tank.
Once you stop and try to re-start the bike, the clocks will cycle through there usual start up procedure, but all you will hear when you hit the starter button is a `Click'. The bike won't even attempt to fire.
This was all caused by a connector from the rectifier to the battery that was not connected properly from the factory, and the battery wasn't getting charged and had ran flat.
The connector is located underneath the fuel tank. Unfortunately I cannot say which one it is, or give it's exact location as mine was only discovered to be loose once it had been recovered back to the dealers workshop.
Hopefully though it should be quite obvious which one it is once the tank is removed?
The root cause would appear to be with the factory during assembly, as the checking of this particular connector is not part of the dealers pre delivery PDI. Whether or not each dealer sets their own PDI criteria, or it is set out for them by Ducati, I don't know? I just know that it was not part of my dealerships checks. Although it will likely become one now!
