  1. Just got back from a southern California riding trip with about 1,000 miles of riding in 2.5 days. Doing winding canyon roads, minor freeway, dirt roads, paved mountain trails and even an OHV dirtbike area. I've done similar rides in southern Utah off road and didn't care for the stock icon pirellis. So I decided to give a Kenda k761 front at 110/80-18 and a 705 rear at 170/60-17 a try. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on mismatched tires that potentially wouldn't work well. I'm glad I did. The tires paired well on aggressive cornering on roads like GMR in southern California and did awesome off-road even on some loose steep up hill climbs. I think I spent a total of 150 for both tires including tax and shipping. The wear is minimal and they got the job done.

Bro, you work at 949?? That’s amazing. I have your 6ULRs on my S2K that have let me put on some meaty ass 255s all around for track duty.

I’m currently running the Dunlop Missions on my Sled, which were a bit sketchy in the first 600 miles or so until they broke in - pretty damn long break in period, but I suspect it’s because tehy’re bias-ply, heavy, and stiff. That being said, I got them off road in Bend this past week and they were incredible off road, including gravel roads, deep sand, and rocky/technical terrain. Not sure how they’d fair on a BDR type trips.

I would not consider them “budget” at $400 for the set, but I’m starting to enjoy them.
Haha it's actually my friend Ed may who works for 949. We headed out from there. I track miata with him and he rides a ktm 790. They just did the washington bdr on a 790 and a gsa1200 and the HS had the mission tires on the and it did great. I sold my icon and bought a 2019 DS I was considering the dunlop's or maybe a cheaper set of 805s depending what prices look like after these rally's wear. You'll have to keep me updated on how those missions wear and ride on the DS
That’s fantastic! Amazing company, had been following them as I knew a bunch of spec miata folks on the east coast, and they were one of the only rim options available for the s2k’s stupid offsets If you want meaty tires.

Here’s my post on the Dunlops, I’ve got some updates - Dunlop Trailmax Mission (50/50 Tire)
