Cleaning excess chain lube is a nasty job. I've been using this, doesn't make a mess or cake up over time like some do, it's Teflon/wax based and safe for o-rings. Got the tip from a friend that runs it on his Multistrada and claims exceptional chain life as well. Big can for the shop, comes in small 3.5 oz aerosol or 4.0 oz liquid for traveling (but costs more than the 14 oz can!).
I bought it and tried it after this post (unfortunately I bought 3 tubes - save on postage)
It goes on easy and lubes - but after a 100 miles - or one ride - there's hardly anything left on the chain and its all every where else.
I tried it on my multi and scrambler with same result on a clean chain (sdoc 100 cleaner) and on top previous lube.
So now gone back to my spray on silkolene spray on titanium dry gel, and a piece of l shape aluminium angle which i place behind and under when I spray and a chain cleaning brush to make sure the coating is even and spread out.
Maybe takes a few minutes longer - but get 3 rides between lube with it.
