Beautiful ride on my commute to work last Thursday, until a car took a turn wide and crossed into my lane. I moved right to stay clear, but before I knew it the left hand turn was upon me and I could not take the corner, speed was about 45-50mph. Found a route out of it right before a guard rail. Kept it up through the ditch but lost it at the top in the wet grass. Dumped the bike in a lowside tumbled over the bars and into the ditch. No injuries, just a sore back/neck and a couple bruises. Bike has bent handlebars and gear shift/linkage bent to hell and a turn signal broke. So glad I made it past the guard rail, could have been much worse.

You had a lot of chance, man... Did you rush and buy a loto ticket the same day ? You should... :D
By the way, I can see that your turn signals have got some spacers our european Scrambler don't have.
Vincelp,
No lotto ticket, but that would have been a good idea :05.18-flustered: I wonder if US law requires the spacers maybe the lights have to stick out a certain amount? I have am going to put smaller signals on so spacers will be removed, but I have to figure out if I need a new headlight bucket or not first.

Whew, as you said, could have been so much worse. Insurance, I hope?
Sarah,
I do have insurance, but I am going to replace the replaceable myself then take it in to make sure there is not "real" damage. That way I dont file a claim unless its absolutely necessary otherwise my insurance will go up etc.

Thanks everyone for your comments.:eek:ccasion14:

Here in California the typical accident is met with a "Hit and Run" response. Where we live our Insurance company saya there 's more Hit and Runs here than anywhere else in California.
Hope all turns out well - and as said before: Bikes are replaceable, your life isn't - so thank you Lord!

Did the car that turned wide stop?
No, I dont think they would have notice since they were out of the curve and going down hill, unless they were looking for me in the rear view.

Back and neck feeling better, I hope.
Yes indeed, much better thanks. Have been riding my SR400 and my CB550 while the Scrambler sits and waits :apologetic:

Update: Parts arrived early from AMS Ducati, new FT bars, Ducabike shifter and shifter linkage. All went together fine. Seemed to drive straight on my first sort test drive. I also took off the fender loosened all the fork bolts except the top and did an alignment, then put it back together. Need to do some more tests but looks good so far.

Looks like a new bike! Glad to see you're alright, that was damn close. You rode that thing right until it bucked you off, Evel Knievel would be proud!

How do you like that Comp Werkes? The more I see of it the more I like it... Just not sure I want to deafen myself.
