Desert Sled forks on Icon or other model

I've seen lots of people theorizing about what it would take to put desert sled suspension on a standard scrambler, but nobody that has actually tried it. Has anyone actually done this? I have an icon and came upon a set of DS forks for a good price wondering what it would take or if it's worth the hassle

So going back on this comment, It's simply not true. Both axles are the same diameter, but the DS is longer. Maybe you should get your calipers calibrated?

Don't call me a liar!!
That's exactly what I did and no I don't need my calipers calibrated. The Desert Sled uses the same axle diameter as the Diavel which allowed me to try a 17" spare wheel from my Wife's Diavel on my Sled. However I could not try it on my Urban Enduro or my Wifes Classic, all of which we owned at the same time.
Get your facts right before spouting off and contradicting other people's hard earned knowledge. It's clowns like you that fill forums full of shyte.

Haha I mean I didn’t exactly call you a liar... I’m just saying the info you provided was not correct. The brake and ABS lines are also the right length even at full suspension droop.

something you’re saying is still not right the classic is the same diameter as well... maybe you weren’t measuring at the right spot or something? I honestly don’t know how you could have taken an incorrect measurement but it’s not different.

Maybe they are now but they weren't in 2015.
I build high end custom bikes on a regular basis so I reckon I kinda know what's what and what's not.
Maybe it's you who's incapable of measuring the right spot.

hahaha I don’t know why you’re so sensitive about this and I don’t think I’ve done anything to indicate I can’t measure...

Also, 2015 axels are the same diameter as well.

I'm not sensitive at all. I just don't like some keyboard jockey making out I'm a liar.
I had three bikes all with the front wheels off and the Desert Sled wheel would NOT fit the other two, I also had a spare Diavel wheel and put that on the Sled intending to Supermoto style it as the Diavel wheel had the bigger bearings that matched the Sled but not the Urban.

I don't recall indicating that I can't measure but you made out either I can't measure or need to get my calipers checked. Seems you think you can say what you want but I'm 'sensitive' when I get pissed off at an internet expert.

What more do you want??
Explain how exactly you came about you wealth of knowledge on this subject.

Keyboard Jockey!!!! whoa that's just over the line hahaha

The reason that wheel didn't fit was likely because the hub was too wide on that DS wheel... since the diameter of the axles are all the same. The DS hub is 9mm wider than the classic/icon etc alloy wheel which also changes where the brake rotor sits.

I'm not really claiming to be an expert about anything hahahah I've just got a DS axle, Mach 2.0 Axle, and a classic here... and measured two more bikes. You can also look at the OEM parts lists and see that all these bikes use the same axle spacers.... which again, confirms the same diameter....

I'm just making sure to correct the info on this forum so somebody doesn't head down the wrong path as I did when I mistakenly believed your information to be accurate.

And it's just my opinion... but it sure seems to me you're being sensitive about this lol

44898

finally got it mostly completed and out for a test ride yesterday. Still need to fab some front fender mounting brackets and I will probably order some shorter front brake lines. First non desert sled with desert sled front suspension.

How does it ride after you did the replacement?
