Got a quote to do the Desmo service at the closest dealership an hour away on my 2015 Scrambler 800 with 16000 miles, now I am becoming a Ducati mechanic. I have mad strides and know I at least can take it apart.
Studying a lot, have read as many forum posts and YT videos I can but still trying to grasp.
My main question based on the below. Do I need to sand down my openers before I can measure the closers? None of the closers can fit a shim at all. And the openers that I can rotate are tight. Let me know what you think my next steps are?
Attached some photos for reference, some notes on shim status:
Horizontal - Exhaust Opener Shim - Spins using fingerforce (cant fit shim)
Horizontal - Exhaust Closer Shim - Spins using fingerforce (cant fit shim)
Horizontal - Intake Opener Shim - Spins comfortably using fingers .003
