Ducati Scrambler First Ride

What/where is going to be your first ride on your new Scrambler? Is it going to be out to your favorite road, or are you going to go out exploring? I know that when I get a new bike, I like to take it out into the hill country of Texas and just get lost for a while. We have some great farm roads out here that you can criss cross all over the place. The only thing that limits you is the tank between your knees... Well, that and the stomach. I usually plan a stop at one of the great restaurants like Bluebonnet Cafe, or The Monument Cafe.

If only I had a van :D

When I'm heading up your way I avoid the A9 like the plague. Usual route is over the Cairn O' Mount then the Lecht and take the Grantown - Nairn road. Much more enjoyable :)

That route was made by God for us to play with.
Grantown to Nairn or fork off to Forres is my local test circuit. It always features on the top ten countdown in the magazines.

Hui that rig is AWESOME!

I was going to recommend that Derek look in to renting a van for the day. Shouldn't be too expensive for just one day.

Good idea Nick, he'll maybe be able to gauge it better near the time because as Derek will know full well our weather can go from half decent to white-out pretty quick at this time of year.
I wil put my coolest matching jacket helmet goggles and whatever else is nessecary to ride a scrambler properly and take a 1 mile ride to Starbucks and then pose for pictures. WHERE ELSE!!!!

I might end doing just that, actually better. I'm on good terms with a local motorcycle shop that I do electrical work for. He has a van similarly rigged up to Hui's that I can probably borrow.

I actually really dig the van! Good work! I love the other one with the racing stripes!

If you want to see an ugly van, check out the Nissan cargo vans. Those are hideous!
I rode back via the welsh mountains yesterday, Some snow on the hills, but an amazing place to run your bike in,

I am hoping to have the bike in time for April 30-May 3, for an ADV riders get together in WV. Of course that means that I need to 1st-get delivery, 2nd-ride 500 miles, and 3rd-get the first service done (all sometime before my departure on Apr 30.

The dealer is 150 miles from home (via nice country 2-laners. I will need 3 decent riding days...
1. Ride Rocket 3 to dealer. Ride Scrambler home. 300 mile day.

2. Ride 200 mile loop in north central PA backwoods. 200 mile day.

3. Ride to dealer and get service then ride home...or...continue to the WV trip (pending date/time). 300/300ish day, depending.

By the looks of the snow/ice here now, it doesn't seem like this will happen but I have high hopes that the weather will improve.

Wow you still had snow? It's been great here! I'll be doing a 67 mile ride back but if the weather is sh*te it will be going in, or behind this

My journey will 100% include some narrow country lanes filled with all kinds of muck, as I live in one :D
