Exhaust Chip

Can anyone let me know the REAL truth ? , I was told that Ithe Ducuati Scrambler OME aftermarket performance exhaust is the only one,s that will give the bike real increased performance , as it comes with a chip that is tuned to that exhaust by your local Ducati dealer ( this is what I was told by mine ) so by buying aftermarket you cannot get the sports tune because its also a chip ? is this true, I have seen lots of aftermarket performance exhausts on ebay and on this forum with good write ups, but do they deliver the same or better peformance on the standard tune than the Ducati one ? as I cannot see that twice the price is worth the money if it doesent give extra performance.

As I know with triumph the sports tune will cover most exhausts ( because there is no chip )

any assistance please

The SC Project exhaust cuts 18 pounds and by my butt meter delivers at least the performance of the stock blob. I've got over three thousand miles on the pipe without a remap and the bike runs great. Even the Ducati service tech commented on the bikes performance. Other than a bit more noise, its a win-win.

Just think about how much better it would be with the proper fueling adjustments :)
Can I get some feedback please if what I was told about the chip is true ?

It's false...

There are a lot of ways to get increased performance using any number of aftermarket units.

Hi Tiger , welcome along,

To be honest, over the years I must have spent a fortune swapping over exhausts etc, and not once did I notice any difference in performance,
When I bought my Scrambler one of the first things that caught my eye was the twin Termi on the FT, So first chance I got I fitted one, don't know if it goes any quicker, but two things I do know , It sounds awesome and it looks fantastic (IMHO)
I think if they say it improves something, well, it should do, whether you notice it is another matter, ;)
read the link in the second post, any exhaust with the Rexxer tuner will do the job.
Unless you want to pay through the nose for the termi.
I read the link ,thanks for that ( there is more than one way to skin a cat ) but no one has answered my questions, does the scrambler have a chip to replace power etc , not just a sports tune on the re mapping on the ECU ? As the Ducati dealer told me this !

The Termi (race version) comes with an altered fuel map (no "chip"), it is loaded by your dealer at the time of install and does the same thing that ANY aftermarket unit with a remap does.
Thanks tonyjuliano I was hoping for a straight answer ! , so in other words the dealer is full of crap ,just so he can sell his termo pipe ! Its the same as my Triumph 1050 sport than , they just put a sports tune in the ECU basically than you can put on most aftermarket pipes I guess, So with the Scrambler I just need to get the sports tune ( or Ducati equivalent put in ) but I guess they won't do that unless your running thier pipe ? , hence Anotherhobbys reply to his own equipment tuning stuff ,power commander etc. Ok I get it buy an aftermarket pipe and save about $1000 AUS dollors with the saving get a tune somwhere .

The "official" performance map can only be used with the Termi race pipe.

Most dealers will also be able to put in a "piggyback" unit (power commander, or similar) to alter fueling for any pipe.

The best solution is to reflash the ECU itself, which can only be done with a Rexxer, right at this moment.

Would one of these pipes do? Custom made by me,with small insert on heat shield for that bit of originality ,as that is what scrambler are about, didn't fun any re formats, as apparently Scramblers have can be played with a bit as the oxygen sencors adjust to suit the pipe
$650.00 it's yours....Sounds great as all mates tell me:)
