The dealer I purchased my Scrambler from is two hours away. I know that service needs to be done by certified ducati techs. That said, for the first service would anyone consider going to a good local shop in lieu of dragging the bike a couple of hours away?

My dealer is 2 hours away RT, and enjoyed (except for my butt) the ride down to Santa Barbara and back for my 1K service. They were very nice and I enjoyed looking through the shop and other bikes, had lunch with a local friend and then the bike was done and I rode home. Worth it to me.

So, that's resounding advice in favor of taking it to Ducati. I know the service is due at 1K (621 miles). I'm now at 720. Is it safe to put another 120 miles on it or is it necessary to trailer it? The manual states the first service is done at 1K, but how far over would you feel comfortable going?

thx,

Dave

Why not make a day out of having the bike serviced?
2 hours isn't that long of a journey, ride the bike to the dealers, have some lunch out while they service it and then enjoy a nice ride back.

It's not a chore at all, quite the opposite in fact. It would be a pleasure.
