This topic has gotten people fired up in the past.

What percentage of pressure do you apply when coming to stops or decelerating in stop and go traffic?

At highway speeds, besides engine braking, how do you brake to meter your speed?

We can talk front/rear trail braking too. But just curious how people slow and stop in a straight line for now.

^^ that’s a good rule of thumb.

but notice that the harder you brake, the more comes from the front brake. And if you build up gradually up to 100% from the front (that’s just physics).

It’s very dynamic, practice lots. At medium but also at higher speeds (say, 60mph and over).

Do you have to press it too far before it works? Or does it feel good but nothing happens? Can you be more precise in describing it please?

There’s a bolt under the pedal that allows you to change the resting position (higher-lower). Make sure to take small steps, and after each step readjust the pushrod that actuates the master cylinder, so it has right amount of play.
