G2 Throttle Tamer.. .. .. Vs....2017 throttle tube ??

Ducati fitted the G2 throttle tamer for me, but the throttle response is still very snatchy... low down

It is fine from about 3000 rpm upwards and has a nice feel. Anything under that not good Best way I can describe it is light & slack no resistance on low down revs so extremely sensitive to touch. I kinda want it to behave more like an elastic band resisting the pulling action...

Any other modes out there to correct this anyone had the 2017 throttle tube does it feel like this ?

Opposite for me, G2 tamer changed it completely, can ride walking pace over bumps now, impossible before. Corrugated dirt or slippery wet roads were really awkward, no longer. Did you get 600 cam (G2 recommended) ? Gives about half as much turn as orig
Other than that, is it well run in ? If still new, maybe some miles on engine will do trick

Yes you could ammend your riding style, which is fine and perfectly acceptable, to counter the overly lean fuel mapping. I've had race bikes on the road that required some "understanding "

You could also employ a non linearity throttle cam if you wish.
Since adoption of a "not for road use" mapping I can pretty much ride however I like and ride it as a motorcycle should be ridden. Your choice.

Here's a photo of the original 2015 cam with the G2 600XX cam placed on top of it.

Much smoother handling at low revs.

You can take off the 400 cam of the aluminum tube. It is a press-fit so you should be careful when removing.
The 400 cam is the standard throttle tamer cam, however G2 advises the 600XX for the Scrambler.

@ EvalSteve, thanks a lot for making this photo!
Agree with Max Kool, this DOES make a difference.
Below I tried to merge the images above into 1. See for yourself...
As far as I can see, you need to rotate the gashandle much further to get to full-throttle with the 2017 cam - not sure whether this is comfortable.

Well, I gotta say, driveability of the 2017 Scrambler is very, very good.

After a week and a half of Scramblering to work, I took my wife's DR650 yesterday, and that bike feel more snatchy and punchy on the throttle than the DS...

The Scrambler really only wakes up now when you want it to.

Pictures tell a thousand words, 600 cam with Tamer changed ours out of sight, 2017 more of same.
Is completely old school stuff, I fitted a trials throttle (tamer yet) to sons first PW50 (he was 3 with training wheels)
Another one I have is a 25 year old Magura with 2 positions for cable, one marked MX the other Enduro, MX is QA the Enduro slow
Tried to use that on Scrambler, actually got it all working before discovering it wouldn't fit with std switch, may yet use that with new switch, guessing about same as 17

All this electronic whizz bang FI still best controlled gently, Q/A throttles have their place on racetrack but for any any slow riding give me a slow action any time, Magura with 2 positions and easy change best of both worlds, someone will remake them, back to the future.
But G2 does have another advantage, is alloy not plastic and runs on self lubricating bushes, little or no slop and promises to stay that way, changing cams not very difficult on this too.

FWIW, If you go on G2's website and buy their 14-17 Ducati Scrambler throttle tamer it is the 400 cam not the 600. I'm just realizing now that mine is a 400. Anybody tried both the 400 and 600? Is it a significant difference between the two? Honestly I didn't notice that much improvement with the 400 cam. I also did my 600 mile break in service when I installed it so maybe? there is some change there as well. http://www.g2ergo.com/store/g2-stre...tamer-throttle-tube/?attribute_pa_make=ducati&attribute_pa_model=scrambler-2015 Who knows? Weird that they recommend a 600 cam for the Scrambler but when you click through their site map for the bike it puts the 400 cam in the check out cart.

Morning. Yeah, it's kind of confusing. Why would they recommend a 600 but send me a 400? I looked on their site Contact Us - G2 Ergonomics and couldn't a spot where they say the Scrambler needs a 600. I trust what your saying since it makes sense I just couldn't really find any recommendations for exact cams. It does say most bike benefit from a 400 cam but that's all the info I could find from their site. I also tried to call their contact number two days in a row to ask about it but no one has answered thus far. I'll update if I learn more.

This might help clarify what they recommend. It's a copy of my enquiry.

Hi Steve,
The cam that comes with the Tamer is the 600xx. This is definitely the best choice for your Scrambler.
Thanks,
Gary

Hi
I would like to order one of these for the above model Ducati.
G2 Street Tamer Throttle Tube

I'm sure they wont mind me pasting it here, they started out supplying the 400 cam but after feedback, created the 600xx specifically for scramblers, sometime in early 2016. So older stock from resellers might have the 400 cam.
So 600xx is definitely the way to go.

My Local dealer hasn't heard of a G2 throttle Tamer :( Slipping the clutch while negotiating roundabouts is becoming annoying now, along with the lumpy suspension looks like I had better book this into the dealer to see what they say.
