I am a total newbie with bikes, i just got mine today a red ducati icon, and i just want to know if theres like a break in period for this bike, like cars does?..any info will be appriciated..thanks in advance.

Read handbook - fully detailed there - but less than 6000 rpm for 600 miles then less than 7000 rpm or 7500 rpm for next 900 miles

But after the first 600 miles - an oil change - you should be good to go..

I still believe that the extended break in is intended to let the riders new to motorcycling or new to this size bike learn to ride.

I've always broke in engines with brief full throttle runs in 2nd and 3rd gears up to 4000/6000 RPM and then let the engine brake back down to 2k or so and then do it again over and over, this seats the rings well and quickly, if you baby it too long they may never seat correctly.

Just keep it to 4000-6000 RPM, its happiest there anyway, dont over rev for more than a few seconds and you will have no problems.

Ride it like you stole it. In my 15 years, and 20+ bikes of riding, it's never failed me. As long as you're not banging it off the rev limiter, or going long stretches at high RPM you'll be fine.
