Is this tool actually necessary if you want to remove the bars and top triple?
I believe it is if you want to take the top off. But in doing so the bottom one will also come off or get really loose in the steering head. That strange nut is what clamps the triples to the frame.

Sure about that? There’s a pinch bolt in the top tree, this confuses me.

And besides, there’s still a nut under the top tree I guess. astroscrambler can you help here, you’ve done this before.

Maybe not so sure. >:}

You're right, the pinch bolt holds the top plate to the cylinder. No need to remove that center nut to remove the top triple.

It's been a while since I've dismantled a Ducati front end.

I want to try removing the upper bracket and then putting on the Clip-on bar.
If I don't need to remove the central bolt,
So I can try to install the Clip-on bar

Today I have finished installing clip-on,
In fact, i can ignore the bolts in the center.
I can remove the upper mounting bracket
