Icon to Full Throttle Handlebar Conversion

Hi Everyone,
I have the Icon (year 2020) with the high-rise handlebars. Sat on a 2023 FT and really liked the bars. Has anyone done this conversion ? (I think both the Icon and FT bars are o/d 22mm ?)
TIA

I did this mod on my 2015 Icon, but it required replacement bar mounts to fit the FT bars (mine came as a set with the bars as I recall). It made a small but significant difference in my experience. I don't know if this is the same for the 2020 Icon, but looking at Scrambler Ducati motorcycle # DUCATI - Online Genuine Spare Parts Catalog it seems as if the part numbers are different ... However, you specifically mention the 2023 FT and the info for this isn't on their website yet, but I think reviewers of the 2023 models all say the riding position is different to the earlier models and with so much changed with the new model I'd guess it's very unlikely to be a straight swap given it wasn't with the older models?

The previous owner did it on my 2019 Icon but it was the handlebar off a similar model Full Throttle (ie. pre-2023 redesign). I know you'll need to get the different gauge mount too but Ducati does make the change easy for you as they have a kit to do just that.

If I was you, I'd do the switch like my previous owner did instead of trying to figure out if the 2023 FT handlebar would fit on your 2020.
Thanks @LBV, trying to figure it out from the part numbers is really tricky, I now think that the FT 2015 handlebar may be a direct replacement but I'm not totally sure TBH.
You'll want to call your Ducati dealer or e-mail one online but I believe this is what you need:

The upper and lower handlebar mounts of the 2020 Icon and the 2015 FT are different part numbers from my reading of it, so I doubt the 2015 FT handlebar would be a straight swap without them. The image @LBV shows looks just like the set I installed, down to the black finish on the bars (which looks much better to my mind!). As @LBV says, safest bet is to get the Ducati approved conversion (or go for a reputable alternative manufacturer like Rizoma - several folk on here have fitted similar-looking non-Ducati parts in the past, some requiring mounting kits as I recall). All that said, I suppose you could get the FT handlebar, try it, and then get the mounts if it proves necessary ...

Thanks for the extra info, I believe you are right about the part-numbers being different, however, I have now contacted my local dealer and have reserved a set of 2015 FT bars (amazing they had them in stock !) - I'm going to the dealer to see them physically and should be able to work out if they fit as I'll have my Icon with me. 🤞

I don't have a decent picture of the original bars but this might give you an impression of the difference between the original and the replacement FT bars on my 2015 Icon ...

(for the avoidance of doubt, the indoor shot is of the bike with the original bars!). I'd guess the main difference is that the FT bars drop the height by a couple of centimetres, so not a huge numeric change but makes a big difference in feel. And they're black, which I think look better than the aluminium finish of the orignal :)

@JezH Thanks for the pics, did you have problems with re-routing cables, hydraulic lines at all ?

I too agree that it looks better in black too !

No problems at all, as I recall (it was several years ago!). Main trick was to persuade the grip to come off on the clutch side but it came eventually 😄

Thanks. Looks great. Will need to price it out.

Edit - did a quick search and looks like FT handle bars are about $300 Cdn tax in. Guess original bars will be staying on lol. Can also look for aftermarket bars.
Why so set on FT bars that need different clamps? Just get some Renthals of the correct diameter and a shape you like. I have Ultra-lows on mine. Much cheaper too.

Can do. Thx
+1 for Renthal bars. Medium rise for me was dead east to swap.
@TRfromMT , Do you have the Renthal part number?

No part number, sorry, but they are the 7/8" Medium Road bars. These don't need a new clamp, and all the controls and cables swap over, no changes.
