Oh don't worry, I know my car's. Citroen bought Maserati in 1968. I served my time on Masers when the Bora was the flagship and Pinninfarina's 1st name was Pinnin. We were Maserati, Lancia and Citroen agents and the Citroen SM was not a new car but based on the DS using the Merak V6 engine so was never meant to be a Maserati. Ferrari's were Flat 12s then. The stament poorman's anything is just out and out snobbery.

And I don't agree that the Scrambler will be outstanding, I just hope it is

I have a deposit on one because it brings back memories of the simple, light weight, fun-to-ride bikes I had when I started riding years ago. And I might add, without the problems of the bikes that era. My first Ducati was a Multistrada 620 after owning a string of BMWs. My last BMW was a F700GS and I sold it when I saw the Scrambler at the Int'l MC Show. For me, a Ducati is all about their engines. I would have kept the F700GS if I could, somehow, put a Ducati engine in it. The Ducati hip promotion and accessories have nothing to do with my decision, but I do understand their marketing objectives.

Yeah, I think your right, companies have to have some kind of theme for advertising. The problem is when Joe public take it beyond that and start assuming the owners are like the actors in the add. A bit like the clowns who think actors in TV soaps are the same in real life.

I've ridden all my life, since I was 5 yrs old (honda z50) I'm 52 now. I'm not a hipster whatever that is. My experience with motorcycle is varied to say the least. Enduro's, sport bikes, touring bikes, cruiser bikes. When I wanted to make a change (again) I saw the scrambler at a bike show and realized this was the direction I wanted to go in. A mostly street motorcycle with some dirt road capabilities. Unique style (Flat Track Pro) a factory street tracker. Can't tell you how many times people have complimented on my bike. It's not something I would tour on obviously, but I have clipped off some 300 mile days having a shit ton of fun. The bike has been reliable. I've got almost 3000 miles and no buyers regrets.
