Italia design issue or just me

I put 130 miles on my II yesterday and noticed a tremendous amount of turbulence at my shoulder area and below my helmet when riding more than 60 MPH.. I believe it is caused by the small fairing that surrounds the headlight. I have a Classic also and rode it immediately after getting off the II when I got home and did not get the same sensation.
Is it just me or has anyone else experienced this?
I'm gonna remove the fairing and see if it makes a difference.

Other than that, the II performed as expected. I was also quite pleased with the seat, no sore tail bone.

Keep us up to date with your results please.
Always thought that lil fairing would do more harm than good and redirect air to the wrong place. I guess it depends on the riders height
Hello

For sure...
I'm 1.85m tall and I've added a number plate as a sort of windscreen on my Classic and it changes a lot the noise and pressure on the head, or shoulders or breast, just by changing very little the height and angle of the plate.
So, I presume that even the small fairing around the headlight can produce, for some of us, disturbancies.
classic bars are higher.. which might affect the angle of wind blowing at you
I've got F/T bars on my Classic.

Didn't get a chance to pull fairing and try it out yet.
Hey everyone remember, it is a naked bike. Turbulence are part of what comes with a naked bike. Those little fairings are all show and flash and do very little in the way of deflecting the air off of the rider.

Just agree with you. In a certain way you need to feel the nature, at least I like it. It is raw in a certain way. Love the bike.

I love the bike. I love the punchy throttle. I love the ride position. I love how I have to handle and control this raw and sometime untamed machine. It's all that I expected it to be and I love it just the way it is.

My biggest issue are the mirrors--they clank against the metal if you make a harder turn. I am seriously considering reversing the mirrors so they come up rather than down and I do not potentially scratch up the tank sides. Also replacing the shocks and forks with ohlins--the bike is just too soft.

You can loosen the set screw in the end of the bar and reposition them slightly forward to clear the tank.
Mine were up when it was delivered, I moved them to down position and have gotten use to the view but had to make sure they cleared the tank.

It definitely does nothing at deflecting air off the rider. I can ride my II at 70 MPH and hold my hand at the edge of the fairing and the amount of that leads to my upper chest area is much more noticeable when I tried the same on my Classic. On the Classic the air is not forced over the exiting edge of the fairing, just around the headlight.
I'll have the fairing off this weekend and see if noticeable weather permitting.

Ditch the Duc accessory and fit a Dart or Puig flyscreen. My Dart really works at speeds well in excess of 70 mph.

I will try that this weekend, thanks!

You can also rotate the mirror heads 180 degrees, they sit a little higher then and are much better. No banging into the tank and not too bad for vision behind.
I have not had a issue with any turbulence, Love The Bike... I prefer smaller mirrors & also fitted a tail tidy.. Hence the bits below for sale

FOR SALE
I have a pair of original aluminium mirrors for sale, new & unused they are off my 2016 Scrambler Italia Independent [dealer cost new £146.00] , I will accept £95.00,
Also the complete original number plate extension bracket cost complete £150.00 "Offers"
UK seller
I rode my Italia Independent the other week 800 miles total during 2 days across southwestern USA from Houston TX to Las Cruzes NM

I maxed out the engine got up to 130 mph at one time at which time the high rev. warning light comes on ;

yes turbulence is BRUTAL at high speeds but, yes again this is a naked bike. I am looking for a winscreen that would not ruin the awesome looks of the bike. PUIG and DART I think would ruin the looks.. anyone has a better idea?
