According to AutoTrader, three to four year old Desert Sleds seem to be in the region of £7000-8000 Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled bikes for sale | AutoTrader Bikes
Most of the sellers listed there are trade, and the handful of private sellers aren't that much cheaper. Seems a bit pricey to me (but then it's about four years since I bought my second-hand Scrambler so I'm probably hopelessly out of date price-wise).

In my opinion, when choosing a Desert Sled, it's important to consider your budget, the type of riding you plan to do, the terrain you'll be covering, and the type of bike you're looking for. If you're new to off-roading, it's a good idea to take a few lessons to make sure you know how to handle the bike safely. Additionally, make sure the bike fits you properly and that you're able to reach the handlebars and foot pegs comfortably. Research different models to get an idea of what's available, compare prices, and read reviews to get an idea of the pros and cons of each bike. Finally, if possible, test-ride the bike to ensure it meets your requirements and preferences.

Hi, thanks for all the information, i have tried the bike for size and foot peg and handlebars are fine, i use to do a lot of off roading so just need to get back out there and get some fresh experience.
Read lots of reviews and i am pretty sure it ticks all the boxes for me, i will be test riding soon and will see how that goes.

I just bought a new Desert Sled this week. I also am coming from an off road background; desert enduro and single track riding 15 years ago.
My impressions are the Ducati is like a sports car on the street compared to my previous bikes, Honda XR, DRZ400, Husaberg 501 with custom suspension, and last was a GAS GAS 450FSE; I enjoy it as much on road as off road.. I took my Sled on a dirt trail yesterday and was totally impressed with it's handling. Obviously, it is 100+ lbs heavier, but it feels like carries it's weight lower than anticipated. It is surprisingly nimble. Standing is mandatory at all times off road, but it is extremely comfortable (I'm 5'8"); more comfortable than sitting actually. The bike is flickable and will dance anyway you want. The power was addicting, torque was unlike anything I ever rode, lots of HP and it was scary fast in 2nd and 3rd gear accelerating at wide open throttle over 3500 rpm. The stock rear tire was better than expected, but the front washed out too easily in 4" (100 mm) deep loose dirt; I will definitely be looking at a more appropriate front tire soon. It is easy to see how this bike won the Mint 400. With the right tires, this bike is 100% off road capable if the rider is competent. I'm going to buy a second set of wheels with Motor RallZ tires after I get the crash bars and other mandatory off road protection for it. (If I buy the wheels now, I won't resist taking it places I shouldn't without the armor in place.)
