Remus Hypercone Exhaust & Rexxer Tuning

Finally!

After months of waiting, it's time to ditch the stock exhaust and do some tuning.

I had originally opted for, and ordered, a Spark EVO V slip-on, but after waiting for almost 10 weeks, with no delivery on the horizon, I made a decision to go with a Remus Hypercone Titanium.

Also picked up a Rexxer unit for tuning and reprogramming the stock ECU. Spent most of the day at the dyno, getting things somewhat dialed in, and I'm happy to report that it is relatively easy to get some decent power gains out of this motor.

I haven't touched the intake side yet, and the Remus still has the DB Killer installed, but I was able to get an additional 3HP and 2.5FT/LBS of torque, over stock. Not bad at all, should be easy to coax another couple of HP out of her, given more time and effort.

The stock exhaust and catalytic converter are VERY heavy, mine weighed in at almost 14 LBS (with all the fittings and hardware). The Remus Hex Titanium weighs in at just a hair over 3 LBS, so the overall weight reduction was also pretty significant.

The Remus sounds great, nice full tone without being obnoxious - very pleased. Here are some lousy pics, please excuse the cell phone shots - it's been a very long (but rewarding) day...

More to come, as things progress...

Not for much longer if I assume his persona and ride a buck fiddy an hour!
A week ago I finally got my Rexxer Evo, loaded the map Dave sent me and took out the O2 sensors. Little or no exhaust popping, bike runs so much better. Had the Outex done over the weekend. My spoke wheels are now tubeless. It's been a great week.

Thanks so much Tony for all these great mod suggestions!

Most welcome...
In every bike forum, you will always find a Tony-like person who knows his stuff. What other bike forums are you in Tony?

Just here and in the "other" Scrambler forum - mostly - at the moment. It's a new bike, and I spend a LOT of time figuring out "new" bikes.

My passion for motorcycles kind of rules my life, but once I know a particular model - inside and out - it's time to move on.

Stay with us, Tony-

At least until we lose our training wheels...

Uh oh. We should compile all your nuggets and make them stickies. In the KTM 990 SMT forum, the guru put all the mods for that bike in a 95-page PDF document. Immortalized by PDF!

Thanks for the feedback on the Rexxer. I think I'll be doing the same.

Can you feel an difference in wheel weight with the tubeless setup? Do you have any comments/suggestions on going tubeless? That's one of the upgrades on my list.

BTW, my wife is from Cebu and we go there every few years, was just there last year. I've been in Manila and some other parts of Luzon but it's been a while. We'd like to get back up that way to see some other places, particularly Vigan.
Question: I'm confused since Ducati measures HP from the crank not the rear tire when making the claim of 73 horsepower stock on a scrambler. That being said any stock dyno I've seen from the rear tire has shown around 64-65 hp. So are you saying you gained 15+ HP at the rear tire from these mods? Since you keep reiterating it's from the rear tire I've spoken to David myself and he has said 10 hp maybe 12 is possible given a full akro system plus MWR side filters. That would put the rear tire gain at about 76-78 hp tops and this is no baffles plus full system plus tune. I'm just curious how you got to such high numbers as I'm about to install my mwr race side filters for my free flow airbox plus my sc project slip on in the mail. I have my rexer unit already. If I can gain the weight loss you mention plus the rear wheel hp gains I wouldn't be far from the power to weight ratio of an r6. I like the sound of that. Looking for some answers here so I can get 15 or more horsepower too. Curious where the dyno charts ended up?

Hi
I am able to get my hands on a second hand Titan Remus Hypercone for a good price and thinking I could order the connecter tube from Remus. I wanted to know if you MUST tune it after installing? I use the bike purely for fun (some dirt) and don't care about additional horsepower, but don't want to be damaging the bike if I must have it tuned.

Anyone got any advice on slipping it on and not tuning?

thanks.
