I know I saw it on one of these forums but it seemed half-baked last year. Has anyone hacked into the ECU enough to tell us how to reset the service indicators when we do our own maintenance? Paying $600 for a Rexxer or minimum $50 and taking it a dealer seems extortionate.

Someone out there must be an electronics expert who just can't abide Ducati blocking us from doing normal work on our bikes.

Thanks

Phil

I believe JPDiag is working for the Scrambler. Or at least they're trying to get it to work. It's $30 or so in cables that you need to buy but the software is free.

I'm going to try a different route and I'll feedback the level of my success. Stay tuned.

any news on jpdiag
I already had the USB to ODBII cable as I've been using GuzziDiag for quit a while. I bought the ODBII to Ducati 4 pin cable as it was cheap (~$20 shipped to CA) and downloaded the latest M3C9 version of JPDiag which is supposed to support the Siemans/Conti MC3 ECU.

I setup everything as suggested but have not been able to log into the ECU yet. I keep getting a "can't init ELM" error which suggests it's not talking to the cable properly. I have the com port setting correct and GuzziDiag works with that cable just fine so I know the drivers are OK. My USB to ODBII cable is the exact one they spec on their website.

So...., not sure where the hiccup is but it's not straight forward yet. I've used a variety of ECU programs (GuzziDiag, TuneECU, DealerTool, and Power Commander) so I'm not a newbie at this.

It looks like I'll be buying a Rexxer to get the map plus have service tools as I do all my own work. I wish they had it worked out as good as TuneECU or GuzziDiag, but I fully understand the Gov't regs are making hacking ECUs even harder and most of this stuff is being developed by a few very talented people on their own time.

that's your best choice, you will not regret it...

I checked the JPDiag forum and it doesn't appear there's been a breakthrough in getting it to work on the Scramblers yet.

It's too bad as most just want a simple code read/clear and service reset tool. If it can do more great, but just those basics would be awesome.

It's annoying that bikes normally don't allow for user service minder resets, most cars do.
