I don't know if this is a 'common' problem or just peculiar to me as I have short legs and a pair of leather trousers with a seam just in the wrong place! My clutch leg contacts the left hand panel at the edge, so every time I change gear it's rubbing up and down.

I've had the panels texture powder coated which seems to be a pretty tough finish but on the last ride I saw that the seam had been rubbing in the same place again - luckily it didn't seem to affect the finish but it was only one ride and I am concerned that over time there is going to be a permanent rub mark.

I'm thinking to put some kind of tank protector material in that spot but have no idea what to do without totally spoiling the look of the panel  - any ideas?

Take care with helicopter tape ... sticks very well and can take a bit of paint off when removed unless you heat up the area well. I learned the hard way
