According to Zigwheels.com, Claudio Domenicali, the CEO of Ducati, hinted that there could be a Ducati Scrambler 1100 at 2016's EICMA.

As recently as last month's EICMA, Ducati revealed the 40cc Scrambler Sixty2, a downsized version of the Scrambler. Domenicali said theres a possibility for a Scrambler with higher displacement.

"A 1100cc model can still be a Scrambler as long as it keeps to the same formula and doesn’t try to be too technical or make things too complex," Domenicali said to Motorcycle News. "There will be a family of Scrambler motorcycles. All of these will be called Scrambler and they will be about simple fun; something that sits on the other side of the garage from the Ducati sportsbike and is perfect for a Sunday morning ride to get a coffee. These bikes will be about basic technology, just the bike and nothing more.”

If there is any truth to this rumor, we could expect it at next year's EICMA event.

Do you think this could be the direction the Scrambler is heading?
Would you be interested in the 1100 cc Scrambler if it does get announced?

I think they picked the perfect motor right off the bat for the Scrambler. If I was looking for more power, I'd be looking at a Monster or the now defunct Street Fighter. If they do make it, it will probably need an extra front brake and higher spec suspension which is going to drive the price up even further.

I doubt if there will be an 1100 Scrambler. If they are going to make one it will have to be for the 2016 model year. From 2017 all new models will have to meet Euro4 emissions standards which the air cooled engines won't meet. Existing models meeting Euro3 can be produced until the end of 2020. 5 more years and they will all be water-cooled.

Yeah, it fits me fine as well. It's the people getting a side-shot of me on it, that looks a bit funny. I know, I know, I'm stupid vain that way.. It does matter, but it matters way-way less than anything else for me. In fact, why the hell am I even talking about it..!? :D

I just wish they would make a slightly bigger sized bike next. at 6 ft 1 I'm visually a little bit funny sitting on it.. but I'm still getting it just because it's just soooo much good'damn fun! =)
I'm the same height and I found the 'Full Throttle' bars made the bike fit me a lot better. The FT seat looks gorgeous but it makes the bike too low for me, so that will be swapped to something with a similar look but a higher seat height as soon as something decent comes out.

It might not look quite the the same as a scrambler but as I've already posted the hypermotard really is a fun bike and as your alittle tall for the scrambler the hyper would be perfect.

Damn it that's annoying. Having just joined the forum and having had my Scrambler for about 6 months, I've just emailed the dealer to reserve the 1100, on the off-chance that they make it (realistically for 2017, I reckon). The 800 is great fun, but I've always liked bigger engines, living out of the city

but... but..I wouldn't be a true hipster and an honest part of this community if I went for a hypermotard...
:D
in all honesty, I have 1K euros pre-invested in an urban enduro and I can't have any second thoughts :D (especially as I will be buying it in April and I have a signed guarantee, that the possible price-raise won't affect me..)

I am/was tempted by the Hyper. I was trying to talk my Dad into one so I could 'borrow' it occasionally but he got a 690 Duke instead.
It's just too upright for my main bike, I do end up taking a few long trips and I commute down a boring dual carriageway, so the wind blast would be an issue. The Scrambler isn't exactly a tourer but there is enough bike in front of me to be noticeably better than the Hyper, in that regard.

The Scrambler really isn't THAT small, I could just do with a slightly thicker seat and I think I'd be set!

Remember when this was a rumor?!

Well, it might just come to be true. The moto rags are finally starting to talk about this after the Scrambler 62 launch.

Project manager said:
We’ve got the engines, there is room to make something bigger. We’ll see, we have a number of ideas and we’re thinking about it... there is a volcano of ideas.

I think we will continue to apply this kind of engine, we have in the past made a number of different displacements of this engine so we have experience and room to do a different version in terms of engine sizing. There’s great possibility to stretch the brand with the 800cc engine, then of course there’s also the possibility to make the bigger engine.
