Footwear Shoe
My comfort seat finally arrived today! What a huge improvement! My bike is now almost perfect. The seat is definitely soft, but that's not the best part. The best part is that I can actually move to any seat position I want without being limited by the dip. I'm fairly tall at 6'1" and I was constantly pushing myself back on the dip. Can't say enough good things about it. At $250, it can't be beat. That's less than most on here have paid to rework the existing pan. I'm happy. World of difference.

The seat pan is identical to the original.

I did also compare to the Urban Enduro seat at the dealership. The foam used is the same. (Which is softer than the Icon foam). There is just a bit more of it on the comfort seat. Specifically on the front of the seat leveling it out to make almost no dip at all. The texture of vinyl used to cover the seat is the same as the UE. It is stickier than that used on the Icon. Which is a lot better. You stay in place much better.

Still loving it after 100 miles or so. As I'm riding to work today, I noticed that I would flinch/brace over certain spots that usually rattle my brain. But I didn't have to. It is such a smooth and soft ride. Another benefit is seat position. It is definitely higher. I'm 6'1" and now my arms are in a perfect position.
I also realize why Ducati made the dip. It would be a wheelie monster if it didn't have it. I very rarely had the front wheel of the ground before the seat. I think the extra height was just enough to shift the center to the point that wheelies are very easy now. I'll try to keep that to a minimum :) (or maybe I'm just riding a bit more spirited)

Ah! Didn't realize there were two pictures in the first post that were nested in below. :)

I also see you have a white bike (which is something I'm probably going to do myself), can you take a picture of the whole thing, seat and all? Would love to see what these babies look like in white! :D :D

No problem. I have a thread on here where I have posted a few pics. In black and white... Ducati Scrambler Forum
I'll add a few more there also as I've added a few items since my last update. Here are a few pics that show the seat on the bike. Ducati did a really great job with it. The seams really help keep the beautiful lines on the bike. A lot of the other seat mods I have seen look very bulbous or rounded. This one looks very original, but is waaaaay more comfortable. Now that I've had the seat for a week or so, I am more in love with the bike than ever. Spent a half hour after work today practicing wheelies :)

I have to say that I'm not a fan of the comfort seat. I just got mine and rode 10 miles and it really changed the way the bike feels for the negative. I also don't find it to be any softer than the stock Icon seat. Bumps were just as tooth rattling and jarring. The biggest problem is that it changes the way the bike corners because I'm up higher off of the ground. I thought that I'd like that feeling, but it's very much 'up on a horse' now as opposed to 'down in a race rocket.' It also messed with my handlebar ergonomics and mirror line which is a testament to just how much taller it is. They claim it's an inch taller than the Urban Enduro which has to be an inch thicker than the Icon seat.

I'll wait to form my final opinion until I know if the seat foam is going to soften up at all. I'm happy with the build quality of the seat and it looks absolutely normal on the bike rather than dorky like a fat guy saddle seat someone had custom made.

And yes, the DUCATI is white, as opposed to gray. I like white better anyway.

I have to wonder if any of you that have the Urban Enduro or the Classic wouldn't like the loser Icon seat since it gets you lower into the bike and makes cornering so much fun and reassured feeling.

I hear what you are saying about being lower on the bike with the original seat. What killed the original for me is my height I think. I have a 34" inseam and having the ability to move back on the Comfort seat is huge. I'm guessing you have some decent roads near you where a lower COG really makes the twisties fun. I'm in south FL so my roads are all flat with the occasional bend covered with sand. And potholes...lots of potholes. Hoping the seat breaks in nicely for you. I'm loving mine.

scowa18, I cannot get enough of that white/black thing you got going on there brother! Great work!

Pumped that you are digging the new seat.
Thanks Nick! I know White/Black may not be the first choice for most, but it works for me. It definitely gets the questions. Last week on the way to work I had a guy pulling out of Dime City Cycles almost ran me over in his SUV to catch up to me at a traffic light. I have actually started muting the music in my helmet at stoplights because almost every day someone tries to get my attention to ask about the bike.

I had the afternoon off of work yesterday so I took myself on a solo motorcycle date. Did 100 miles in one shot and had zero discomfort on the comfort seat. It is very soft and your positioning is not limited by the sculpting. So you can move back and forth all you want. I also appreciate that the seat cover is much stickier than the Icon seat. I would venture to say that my wife will appreciate that also when riding pillion since her chief complaint was sliding off the back.

Since picking up the Comfort Seat, I've put another 1000 miles or so on the bike. That's enough time for the new foam to break in and begin to show its shortcomings. Don't get me wrong, the seat is far better than the original. I would still buy it again in a heartbeat, but over time I have begun to realize the role the pan plays into the torture. The ridge created by tool kit recess is horrible. If they just took that part out of the mold, it would probably take the seat off of everyone's complaint list. I'm not just speculating.
Disclaimer: I am not telling anyone what to do and won't be held responsible for any damage you do to your bike. Anything you do is at your own risk.

That said, I have never loved the seat more than now. I used my rotary tool to remove the recesses from the seat pan where my sit bones are. I left a little strip in the middle for structural support since my tail bone isn't affected by that portion. Now my seat sags just right. It feels totally plush and has the added benefit of allowing my body to sink down further into the seat; a feeling that was initially lost on the Comfort Seat as silverluxe had noted. Project is not complete as I plan to cover the openings to seal them off. This mod would likely make the stock seat feel amazing. Cut at your own risk ;)

I got mine through my dealer and he gave me 15% off. He also shipped my standard Icon seat back to my house for me since I rode in. Its about an hour ride and I didn't want to figure out a way to carry the extra seat with me.
In all seriousness though, cutting the plastic ridges out of the seat pan is the best thing I have done to this bike. It truly feels like sitting on a pillow now.
