side stand error!!!!!

No me!

Put the bike on an paddock stand or something go and sit next to the bike and move the stand. At the swivel point (don't know if thats correct English) there must be a kind of a switch. See if it gets actuated and eventually adjusted it if needed. If that doesn't work there must be also a connector close to the swivel point of the stand. Unplug it and bridge the contact.

Just thinking loud. Anybody correct me pls if I sad something wrong here.

It happened to me this morning, down on the stand pivot undo the small bolt holding the black plastic switch that the sensor lead connects too. On the back of it you will see a small pin that fits into a hole on the arm that rotates to switch off and on. The problem is the bolt behind it that holds the arm onto the bracket. It came loose, just did 3 turns to tighten and the pin was then able to sit back into the hole. All done with a small shifting spanner.

On previous Ducati's I've always removed that small switch as its a little fragile, (pain in the butt) once it's hanging loose trace the wiring until you find a three pin multi connecter.
Once you've found the connector separate it and you'll find that there's only two pins, bridge those pins and that eliminates the switch circuit so no more problems BUT you then have to remember to lift the side stand before moving off.
It's been a mod that's been done by lots of owners BUT as I've already said you have to remember to flip the side stand up "there's no reminder now" otherwise you could have it dig in and then whoops.
Hope this is of some help as I know of quite a few owners who have had problems with that item and have solved it this way BUT if you do this mod and you drop the bike DON'T blame me.

Has anybody done a simple mod to by-pass the side stand cut-out switch? I remember doing such a mod on my DR 650 about ten years ago; it's probably still a 'Sticky' somewhere on the ADV Rider forums - it was very easy.

Yes Gil it's a well known fix over here in the UK certainly kept afew owners mobile but as I said its up to all who do that mod to get used to flipping the stand themselves without the idiot light.

As for being an adult perhaps passing 73 years young last week puts me into that category but deep inside I'm 18...
