Unless you got 2nd hand I would say the factory it came from is to blame. Your dealer should have noticed though

I guess I never thought about angled valves as I haven't had an issue with the straight ones. Some previous bikes yes indeed but I seem to have enough room on the Scrambler.

I had a side valve from new as well. I got 5200 miles out of mine before changing (it was bald in the middle though )

I'm going to be on the look out for something like a Metzler Marathon when it comes time for new tires but I like the look of the stock Pirellis. But for a relatively light motorcycle they are definitely a short life tire.

To give you an idea I had sold a 2007 Kawasaki Custom 900 to my neighbor and it wasn't an extremely heavy bike but heavy enough. Before I sold it I replaced the rubber with the above tires at 11K miles,

He now has 24K miles and the tires are still in amazing condition. Personally I am tired of replacing tires at 3-5K miles even with their performance gains relative to a harder compound.
