I took my bike for a 30,000 km oil service after 2 years and 9 months. A couple of weeks ago I had the chain kit service done before a long trip and the mechanic at the time took the bike for a short test run and suggested replacing the steering bearings at the next service. I did notice a slight wandering but didn't think much about it. US$32 service charge and about US$100 for 2 new bearings (Part #70241231A) later, the change is significant. I guess you don't really notice it when it deteriorates over time but it should be checked. Just a heads-up.
