This crack suddenly appeared - I have no idea how or why?! It doesn't look like a stone chip and is in a bit of an odd place for that anyway. Nothing has gone near the clock and my key doesn't have anything metallic on it, only the plastic tag from the dealers and anyhow wouldn't reach that area. I'm so careful when I wash it as I know it scratches easily, it wasn't there the last time I washed it so was a bit dismayed to see this .

I'm taking it to the dealers for them to have a look at, I'm not optimistic for a warranty claim though , but it won't hurt to ask - they can only refuse!

At over £500 for a new speedo, is there anything I can do to make it watertight if I'm not successful in having it replaced?

Pic is a bit blurred as camera couldn't focus properly

I am pretty sure the face is plastic (not glass) so a bit unusual to develop a crack there unless as cliff says the trim ring fastened too tight. You would think it would very simple and cheap to replace. Let us know what dealers say

Sadly you can't replace the face - you have to get the entire unit! :ambivalence:

Hopefully it will be covered under warranty but if not try taking it to an instrument restoring place, you probably have a lot more of them in the UK than here, I'm sure they could replace the lens for a lot less than buying a new gauge.

What did the dealer say, Gill?

Cliff
Bloody hell took bike to dealers yesterday, they took pics of it, then someone from service rang me today to say he wants to inspect it before the pics are sent off!! So got to go again .... :BangHead: - good job it's a nice ride up there on the back roads (when it's not raining!).

Well here I am at dealers again, they have taken more pics and the service guy confirmed there aren't any impact marks. Also that the clock does come in various parts - so if the worst happened and they didn't replace, I should be able to get just the facia bit. He also said it does happen on other makes not just Ducati, so he must have seen it before.
