If you have a 2019 (and I think it's the exact same as the 2020) Desert Sled and your looking into luggage solutions you'll quickly find out it's rather madding. Not too many options and a lot of misleading info about what fits and what doesn't.
As much as I'd like to block the memory, I thought I'd share what I've bought and fit for my 2019 Desert Sled that works EVEN THOUGH technically the parts are wrong.
I don't know if it's just the whole COVID supply chain issue or if your in Canada or the US it seems like the SW Motech Legend LC1/LC2 series of bags ad side carriers are like almost impossible to source.
So if you go by the SW-Motech website this is what you'll need for the guaranteed fit of the Legend saddle bags and carriers for the 2019 DS:
SLC Side Carriers:
HTA.22.916.1000 (left side)
HTA.22.916.1100 (Right side)
According the SW Motech website these carrier are totally different and have an extra mounting bar.
My Sled has the factory low pipes so I wanted to max out the size of the Legend LC1/LC2 saddle bags, so I was after the 13L bags for both sides, most commonly you'll see the 9.8L for the right side in case you have a aftermarket high pipe.
Here is the part numbers for the Legend LC1/LC2 bags from the SW-Motech website (I'm just listing the brown and black bags although there is also a SKU for just black bags which I didn't list):
BC.HTA.22.916.20000 (a combo 13L and 9.8L)
OR
BC.HTA.00.402.10000 (Left Side 13L bag)
BC.HTA.00.401.10000 (9.8L for either side)
So after searching for these parts and doing other research i either could not find those parts available anywhere in North America or they were out of stock in some various combo everywhere.
So this is what I actually ordered and installed on my 2019 DS:
BC.HTA.00.402.10100L (left side saddle bag) X 2
and for the SLC side Carriers I got:
HTA.22.577.10003 (left side SLC Side Carrier)
HTA.22.577.11003 (right side SLC side carrier)
Note that some supplier websites list these for the 2019 DS AND the 2018 but they are not suppose to fit the 2019 DS right out of the box but they will. What you need to do is take the manufacturer supplied bolts and throw them away then go to a fastener supply place and get 4 10x1.5 bolts which will fit the 2019 DS (2020 too??)
When you go to install the carriers you'll see the bracket angle is off and it does appear to align properly but if you put the bolt on the rear hole first (don't tighten it yet) and slightly twist the bracket it'll align enough to get the front bolt on. Then tighten both bolts and it'll secure up tight and fit like it was meant to.
Now for the whole saddle bag thing. As you'll see I ordered qty 2 Legend LC1/LC2 13L Left side saddle bags. This bag will actually work on both side perfectly. The only difference is the location of the release button. When you put a left side saddle bag on the right side the release changes to the front of the bike instead of the back, that's it! Also if you have the 13L bag installed on the right side it appears to have plenty of clearance from the pipes. I haven't found that a hot pipe affects the saddle bag at all.
See the pictures below for the setup on my Sled..... These hack should save you a lot of frustration .... You're welcome.
