Hi guys,

I've ordered my Icon and just heard it's come off the production line and should be here in 10 days.

Has anyone ordered a Ducati tail tidy instead on the number plate mud guard?

They look nice in the pictures

Tell us more about the "Tidy Tail", .....we're gonna need a new name for that one......

Deleting the mud guard will be a good look. I think that having something similar to the Triumph tidy tail will be good too.

The only thing wrong with that Photoshop job that I did on that image is the full throttle side panel sticker doesn't actually match the 62 yellow on the
Icon. I'm probably going to make a custom sticker that actually matches.

It's a nice picture that, I'm thinking of getting the spring powder coated to match, It really sets it off :)

Carbon tank panels would be nice too,

Yeah, you killed the PS job on this one! Great work! I have been drooling over the mock ups that you made for a while.

That yellow spring is a nice touch for sure.

Personally I like the set up on the Red bike on the top of the site page, keeps the stock stubby fender which I really like and doesn't change the turn signal positions. I searched Tidy Tail and was surprised how many versions they had, they call it them "Tail Tidies" for what that's worth. The one on the Red (home page) bike looks like a stock part from a Classic, ??

I am going to look out for a secondhand spring hopefully an Ohlins of similar length maybe from a monster. Do you think one slightly longer say 10mm would still fit ok and give a slight increase in ride height.

I think the springs ok Albie, Its the damping that needs altering, :)

But you could always get a spacer made up if you want the bike to be higher 10 mm wouldn't be a problem .

A longer spring won't heighten the bike any other than remove the 'static sag' but just make it stiffer due to compressing it to get it in. You may find then it goes 'coil bound' as there isn't enough space left between the coils to allow it to move full travel.
You still require 'static sag' when you sit on the bike and a longer spring may not give you any as the damper will stay fully extended, this will cause it to come to a sudden stop on the rebound.
Like you say, a different spring of the same dimensions rated for your weight could help the ride quality.
Elvisto, Did you mean a 10mm spacer in with the spring or on the shocker mount ? Longer shox would the way to go.
I think there is a pre-load facility on the spring as it is which just keeps the static sag when carrying different loads and keeps the headlight level after the big breakfasts you lads eat in another post.

I am definitely moving the number plate (small size here is US) to the rear hugger And eliminating that low mounted arm. But I am not gonna purchase anything that I've seen so far...just doesn't look quite right to me...once I get the bike I will figure out something that looks right to me. Also, legally we need some reflectors in PA. I have a mental design in my head but I need the bike to work out the details.

Yes Hui, I meant on the overall length of the damper/spring, I've been giving it some thought over lunch and it's not so simple on the scrambler to modify, due to the fixing points,
This would be an ideal situation, this is the one on my Ecosse, see pic

This is an Ohlins one , you can adjust the length of the strut, to suit the geometry you need, This one can be adjusted 25mm in length, it's on the shortest setting at the moment.

Perhaps the gent on this site who's making rear dampers could do something for you Albie,

I zoomed in on the picture at the top of the page, you're right it looks a bit tricky. I'll wait and see what the story is when I get it regards ground clearance etc. but I've got other bikes in the stable for spirited riding so the Scrambler will probably be OK for what I want it for.
