Apparently. The LCD is larger(4.3”) a different shape and in colour. The quick shifter is an option on the Icon and standard on some other models.

Your description is in line with what I thought I had read or heard. I knew the Nightshift came standard with the new LCD and quick shift, but I wasn't sure about the 2023 Scrambler Icon. Thanks for your reply!

Hmmm…I’m getting conflicting info on what a quick shifter is. Is it like an auto shifter where you don’t have to use the clutch up and down, or does it simply make the clutch/gear change faster/better?

I may have misunderstood, but I believe that the gears can be shifted without using the clutch if it has a quick-shift.

Most new spec quickshifers allow up and down shifts without the clutch being used. You only need the clutch to start and stop.

What, even downshifts?
How does it blip throttle to match revs or does it just mash it?

I get it for flat out upshifting but using no clutch ever, well I wouldn't want to be the second owner. Never saw the sense in them off racetrack.

having clutchless shifter requires that the bike has ride by wire throttle, and together with sensors it instantaneously blips the throttle... for the first time the 2023 scrambler 803 comes with ride by wire throttle which makes it possible to have a quick shifter - I have a 2022 icon, so no quick shifter but I have it on a triumph street triple and had it on bmw f900r - and on those bikes it works very well

Ah I see. My Audi did that (but it still had clutches and the ECU controlled those too)....Didn't realise it had trickled into bikes...especially retro ones.
I'm still getting over fuel injection on motorcycles.

They have become almost standard on mid to high end bikes over the last couple of years and going back to your never buy a s/hand one comment I think you 100% wrong. A bike with a down quickshifter is far less likely to have clutch or gearbox problems than one that has a standard clutch that has been used incorrectly.

Yeah well to be fair my comment was based on old school race speed shifters that simply cut ignition briefly to take load off input shaft while rider smashed his way up the gears. Going down was rider skill to match revs but still was hard on the gearbox. I take your point... if it's all ECU controlled now then yes, would be kinder mechanically.
