Top 3 mods you've done to your Scrambler?

As it seems most of us have modded our bikes to some extent, what made the most difference to you and why?

Mine are:

1) Number board as a screen, no more barn door impression!
2) 44t rear sprocket, helps smooth the throttle in low gears with no noticeable loss in grunt, but less revs at speed.
3) Changing grips and levers. The stock grips have an awful couple of ridges that were really uncomfy through my gloves, and adjustable levers make the brake reach closer and easier to get good feel.

A picture says a thousand words.
1). Tail-tidy
2). Bar-end mirrors
3) Custom exhaust
There will be much more to come, just need to find the time.
Tail-tidy for looks mainly as the stock scaffolding arrangement is awful.
Bar-end mirrors as the stock one are just to close due to the type of bars.
Exhaust to sort out symmetry from the rear and just because I felt like it.

Mine (so far)...

16t countershaft sprocket - accomplishes the same as posted in # 2 in the original post, but without losing stock chain adjustment, or having to fit an aluminium rear sprocket (aluminum sprockets are NOT for riders who rack up a lot of mileage, IMO).

Most important (to me) will be the next few to come... Replacing the stock exhaust & CAT, and fixing the horrible suspension.
With the unusually hot weather we're having in the UK, my top 3 favourite mods at the moment are:
1/ Get Scrambler out of garage
2/ Start it
3/ Ride it, wearing inadequate protective gear, (denim jacket, Converse trainers, open face helmet / sunglasses, etc...)

Agreed but, You're going to open a hornets nest with the self appointed HSE brigade.
You're probably right Hui. But let the hornets come ! If I wanted to be completely safe I wouldn't ride a motorcycle, would I ?
Risk is all relative, as I sense you appreciate...
Years ago I went to the Bol d'or at Paul Ricard circuit with my mate Chris - we stopped over in St Tropez before we got there, and noticed that the helmet law was not exactly being strictly enforced... So we had a wonderfully liberating evening cruising around without helmets. And we didn't die !
By the way, the pipes on yours are fabulous ! What are they?
Jonny
So far, my top 3 mods 1) replaced stock grips with Rizomas, 2) replaced stock levers with CRG adjustable folding levers, 3) remove stock mirrors and replace with Driven bar end mirrors. Next major ones will be comfort seat, rear fender eliminator, ohlins rear shock.

What make and model are those bar end mirrors? Also, did you post about your tail tidy? Thanks

Nitron shock
Alterations to stock seat (i.e. softer!!)
Dart screen
Termi race exhaust
Andreani adjustable front end
Scottoiler

Adjustable levers arriving this week then heated grips whenever they turn up followed by a Nitron shock as the Andreani front end really shows up the limitations of the stock shock.

1. SW Motech Footpegs - better grip and sitting position
2. ZARD low Slip-on - sound and looks (ordered but hasn't arrived yet )
3. Smaller turning lights or blinkers

To come: Tail tidy, free the frame from all the plastic, maybe a rexxer map up including modified air intake, suspension etc etc...

Can you share any details on how you're doing the battery/seat pan???

Sure Tim. I'm going to have a go at designing the battery box myself. Once I've got a cardboard template I'm happy with I plan on having one fab'd up by a welding mate of mine. I'll post some photos on my progress in a different thread. The seat and pan will be done by a professional. I'd like the seat line to follow the frame and tank line all the way to rear.
