It's that time of year for planning holidays and adventurers. I feel like Marco Polo when I load up the bike to go on vacation, nothing gives me more of a buzz!!
So where is everyone going on there bikes this year, weekend trips, Long haul?
I am organising a trip to Scotland end of May for the Multistrada peeps it's something I have done for a number of years although this year we gave it a miss. I am excited about this as my youngest son is joining us on his first biking holiday and it will be fantastic to spend a week with him.
Scotland is a beautiful country for those who have not been. The scenery is majestic and magnificent , the food hearty and wholesome and the people warm and welcoming. The roads are full of twisties and it's well worth the trek to get there.
August will see us back in Italy although this year we will take the bikes on the trailer saving tyres and fuel! We will base ourselves in the Dolomites and play on the hundreds of passes every day! We go end of August as it's just too hot in July/ August.Again it's a long trek but stunning with amazing passes/ hairpins the roads literally are like spaghetti twisting and turning sooo much fun.
I hope we can fit another week in somewhere along the way! So where are you off to ?

Thinking of a ferry to Santander and a ride to Barcelona from there through the Pyrenees in July....... It will take some organising though as it will be 2 people, 1 bike. Also trying to plan a France tour with bike in Transit van. Just got to brave the ride up the scaffold plank to get it in....

I don't know where yet Carole. Given that I live in Scotland it nice to get away somewhere different for a change but for continental touring I'll be taking the Multi in preference to the Scrambler which is a hoot for our roads.

I think this year will be my first trek into Europe on the bike.
I did north east Scotland last year, almost the week after I picked up the Scrambler and loved it. Good trial run for an even longer adventure, I know what I might need to make a European tour more manageable now.

No route set yet but I'd like to make it to northern Italy, via Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Unless I can talk some friends into playing support car, I'm going to need to do some planning, as I don't want to carry camping gear.

I think we'll chuck the bikes in a van and drive them across to Hull.

Quite a shopping list of extra's that I want for the trip.
Tail rack, tail bag, Kriega tank mount, new front tyre, new chain & sprockets, air hawk seat pad, new rear shock and maybe even a bike specific GPS.

So, we'll see how all that goes but I'll make it one way or another.

I agree with the OP that Scotland is a great place for biking. We have been to Scotland at least once a year for the past 25+ years.

This year I'm planning a similar trip to last year where my mate and I had the scramblers shipped to / from Geneva where we collected them and spent a great time in the French, Swiss and Italian Alps.
